Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to Fast Movie Editor, also called FME, published by Chilling Moose OU. It applies across supported desktop and mobile platforms when an FME product or store listing links to this page.
"App data" in this policy means information handled by FME while you edit, including media, projects, settings, previews, logs, and exports. "Collect" means transmitting data off your device so Chilling Moose or another party can access it.
Data stored on your device
FME processes media locally. Depending on the platform and the workflow you choose, it may read or create the following data:
- Video, audio, image, project, and other files you select
- FME project documents, autosaves, and recovery information
- Exports and other output files you create
- Preferences, workspace layouts, and recent-file information
- Generated peaks, filmstrips, previews, and other bounded caches
- Local diagnostic logs, which can include technical messages and file paths
- Local file or folder access grants needed to reopen media you selected
This data stays on your device or in a local, removable, or network storage location you choose. If you select a network folder, FME communicates directly with that location using your operating system and credentials. It does not route the files through Chilling Moose.
Collection, tracking, and sharing
FME does not collect app data.
- No FME account, profile, or sign-in
- No advertising or advertising identifiers
- No analytics, usage telemetry, or developer crash-reporting service
- No tracking across apps or websites
- No developer-operated cloud storage or media upload service
- No third-party advertising or analytics SDKs
Chilling Moose does not sell, rent, share, or use FME app data for profiling, advertising, or marketing. FME's media-processing libraries run on your device and do not receive your files as an online service.
Files, camera, microphone, and notifications
FME accesses files and folders you select so it can open media, save projects, create caches, and export results. The current Mac App Store version uses system Open and Save panels and does not request Photos or Media Library permission. A system picker on another supported platform may handle a selection without giving FME access to the rest of a library.
The operating system controls these permissions. You can deny or revoke them in system settings. Denying access prevents FME from using the affected files or library, but does not cause the app to send information elsewhere.
On macOS, the Narrate feature can request microphone permission after you open Narrate with an audio input selected. FME uses the microphone you choose to show a live input level and record into the open sequence. Narrate can request camera permission after you choose a camera as the video input. FME uses that camera to show a live preview and record video into the open sequence. Recordings are processed on your Mac and saved in the default Fast Movie Editor/Narration folder inside Movies or another folder you select in FME Preferences. Chilling Moose does not receive captured audio or video. Denying either permission disables only that input and does not limit editing, playback, import, save, or export.
FME can request notification permission after a valid export starts so macOS can report when that export finishes or fails. Export status remains available in the app if you deny this permission, and notifications can be disabled in FME Preferences or macOS System Settings.
Operating systems and app stores
If you purchase, download, license, update, or run FME through an operating system or app store, that provider may independently process transaction, licensing, device, download, update, or diagnostic information under its own privacy policy. Chilling Moose does not receive your payment card details from FME.
These platform activities are separate from FME's local media processing. For current Apple and Microsoft platforms, see the Apple Privacy Policy and the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
Local automation
Desktop versions of FME include command-line and MCP automation for editing workflows. The automation service uses authenticated local interprocess communication. It does not open an unauthenticated public network listener and does not send your project to Chilling Moose.
A local automation client you run can inspect or change the open project within the permissions of your user account. Only use automation clients and scripts you trust.
Retention, deletion, and your controls
FME retains local data until you delete it, clear the relevant cache, change its storage location, or remove the app's local container. Generated caches can be recreated from your source media. Projects, exports, source media, and data stored outside the app container may remain after FME is uninstalled.
You control the source media, projects, and exports you create. You can remove them with FME, the Files app, Finder, File Explorer, or the storage provider you selected. You can revoke photo, media-library, and file access through the operating system's privacy or app settings.
Because FME does not transmit app data to Chilling Moose, there is no FME account or developer-held app-data record to access, export, or delete.
Support messages
If you contact Chilling Moose, we receive the email address, name, message, attachments, and other information you choose to send. This correspondence is separate from FME, which does not automatically transmit projects, media, logs, or device data to us.
We use support correspondence to answer your request, diagnose issues, protect the service, and meet legal obligations. We keep it only as long as reasonably needed for those purposes. You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your support correspondence, subject to applicable law, by using the contact address below.
Children
FME is a general-audience creative tool. The app does not collect personal data from children or from any other user.
